This intermediate/advanced hands-on 4-day workshop builds upon the scenario, functions and concepts learned in i2 Analyst's Notebook - Level 1. The main focus is on analysis and customization, less on manual charting.
Learn to customize and create icons, attributes, templates, palettes and chart properties that complement investigations. Building on importing and analytical skills, learn to apply new techniques for manipulating charts created with mass data. Emphasis is placed on learning the analysis tools and how they can be used to examine chart focus and to find commonalities within and between charts. Learn more about attributes - when and why to use them - and how analysis attributes can add analytical and presentation value to your chart. Delve deeper into social network analysis with i2 Analyst Notebook and examine more advanced analytical tools like clusters. The week culminates with a project that reviews lessons learned during the week and provides for additional chart presentation techniques.
Prerequisite: i2 Analyst's Notebook - Level 1 / 32 CPE units
Book Nowi2 Analyst’s Notebook - Reboot & Refresh
This intermediate hands-on 2-day workshop is designed to reintroduce best practices and concepts learned in i2 Analyst's Notebook- Level 1 and expose the student to the new features found in Analyst's Notebook version 8. The target audience for this class are those who have previously taken Analyst's Notebook - Level 1 in an earlier version of the software and are now beginning use of version 8 or who may have been away from the software for a while and need a refresher. Attendance at an earlier Analyst's Notebook - Level 1 class is a prerequisite as this class assumes that previous knowledge. Besides best practices, the main focus is on how to maximize your use of the new features found in version 8 to accelerate and deepen your analysis.
Learn to navigate the new task pane windows and tabbed charts. Build on importing skills by learning of the enhancements to this workhorse tool in the latest version. Learn how to use filters and histograms to perform deeper analysis and basic data mining on your charts. Understand the uses of conditional formatting and how it can help you perform better analysis and create better presentations. Delve into social network analysis with i2 Analyst Notebook's SNA tools. Send locations on your chart to a map using the Google Earth functionality for geographical analysis. You will also be learn new ways to present your information via new palettes as well as new methods to export your chart data.
Prerequisite: i2 Analyst's Notebook - Level 1
Book Nowi2 Analyst’s Notebook - Social Network Analysis
What is Social Network Analysis (SNA)? SNA is a method that emerged from Social Sciences. It can be used to examine group structures and communication flows within a network chart by focusing on the relationships that exist between entities. i2 has implemented SNA capabilities within Analyst’s Notebook that can help people to better understand the dynamics of groups and organizations. In this one (1) day seminar you will learn how to -
- Understand SNA metrics and what they may do for you
- Build charts for use with SNA
- Prepare a chart for SNA by identifying and clearing unwanted items from the chart
- Use SNA to identify the core of the network and any key entities
- Use regular chart updates to identify new players, leaders or groups within the network
Prerequisite: A good working knowledge of the basic features of Analyst's Notebook and an understanding of the concepts and use of visual investigative techniques
Book Nowi2 iBase Designer
This intermediate hands-on 5-day workshop focuses on the concepts and functionality required to develop i2 iBase databases for use with other i2 products.
The basic theories of link analysis used in i2 Analyst's Notebook are reviewed and the concepts behind and basic functions of iBase User are introduced during the first few days of this course. The basic principles of Entity/Link/Properties (ELP) database design are used to focus discussions and hands-on practice with the goal of designing and creating iBase databases that complement the needs of the end users. Learn to import/export data, create/edit code lists and design reports while moving between designer and user mode. Key system administration tasks, such as setting up passwords and users, are also covered.
Prerequisites: i2 Analyst's Notebook – Level 1 or Charting with i2 iBase Databases. Database design experience helpful. / 38 CPE units
Book Nowi2 iBase
This intermediate hands-on 5-day workshop focuses on the use of databases by those involved with investigations, data entry and analysis.
Using a variety of exercises, learn the basic functions such as opening, adding or modifying databases while moving between i2 iBase and i2 Analyst's Notebook to visualize data and populate databases. Additionally, learn the tools necessary for writing reports, querying the database, and importing and exporting data. As the week progresses, more advanced analysis, queries and manipulation of the iBase database will be taught as well as best practices and methodologies for using i2 products.
Prerequisite: i2 Analyst's Notebook - Level 1 / 38 CPE units
